For a while I was unable to write anything on the ‘body’ of my post, but after complaining about it….it got fixed =)
So many things have happened and I feel like I have failed as a “blogger” and I will do my best to update you on the most important parts.
First of all, can any of you believe that it is October third?
December 6 is my last day of JR 1, insane right? I feel like I just started Nursing school. Time is slipping from my hands!
This past week we were quizzed with Cranial Nerves. I actually did pretty good, but I still need to do better to bump my grade up. I am not necessarily failing the course, but I am not passing with flying colors ( which is what I am trying to do). Cranial Nerves can be sort of hard to learn them, but I have two methods that seriously helped me remember them and I want to share them with you.
There is this amazing video that is pretty accurate (except for cranial nerve #4, it is downward, NOT upward).
Also, there is a drawing that I thought I should share with you all- that helped me the most. I was not the creator of the drawing, I am simply passing on the good wisdom that I was given.
We practiced today our injections (on real people!) and my hand was visibly shaking. I was most likely shaking because I couldn’t get over the fact that my instructor was right there watching. Its weird, his presence should have made me feel better, but I kept thinking he was going to say “Stop! You’ve dug your needle way to deep into the patient!”
He did not yell at me of course. I just tend to think of the worst possible scenario as a natural reflex, its just the way I roll. I do have to admit that the faculty is pretty awesome. They are incredibly helpful and they really want to see us succeed.
I am having a really great experience and I know that sometimes I complain about the work, time and school, but its nursing school so its expected, plus I’m loving every minute of it!
