The way I see it

I’m Half Way There ( I Can Almost Smell Winter Break)

I can’t even begin to express the relief I felt when I got the grade I did for my second pharmacology exam.  I literally jumped out of my seat and announced it to my family (they totally share my joy).  I didn’t even get an A but whatever, I passed! WOOOOOOOOOOO, I feel like I am on the verge of passing, but I am nevertheless passing.  I make it sound like I am barely getting by and I am…at least with Pharmacology.  I am on a 78% right now,  I need to step up my game for the upcoming two exams.

I can barely keep up with this blog anymore.  My life revolves around school and work (mostly school because I forget to turn in my time sheets, therefore, I haven’t been getting paid for nearly two months).  I am constantly studying or doing modules (no points are given for those) to prepare for labs.  I just want to study, but when I go out and I’m doing something “fun” and I sometimes stop and think “man, I could be studying right now, but no…here I am watching Gravity.”

On a side note I totally recommend watching that movie on IMAX.  It’s freakishly awesome.

By the way, I am totally loving Nursing school.  If you love it- all the hard work is totally worth it.

And She’s Back

For a while I was unable to write anything on the ‘body’ of my post, but after complaining about it….it got fixed =)

So many things have happened and I feel like I have failed as a “blogger” and I will do my best to update you on the most important parts.

First of all, can any of you believe that it is October third?
December 6 is my last day of JR 1, insane right? I feel like I just started Nursing school.  Time is slipping from my hands!

This past week we were quizzed with Cranial Nerves.  I actually did pretty good, but I still need to do better to bump my grade up.  I am not necessarily failing the course, but I am not passing with flying colors ( which is what I am trying to do).  Cranial Nerves can be sort of hard to learn them, but I have two methods that seriously helped me remember them and I want to share them with you.
There is this amazing video that is pretty accurate (except for cranial nerve #4, it is downward, NOT upward).

Also,  there is a drawing that I thought I should share with you all- that helped me the most.  I was not the creator of the drawing, I am simply passing on the good wisdom that I was given.

This coming week I have the HEENT, hair, skin and nails competency, Neuro competency and injection competency (Subcutaneous, IM, ID).  I can hardly wait…………………………….

We practiced today our injections (on real people!) and my hand was visibly shaking.  I was most likely shaking because I couldn’t get over the fact that my instructor was right there watching.  Its weird, his presence should have made me feel better, but I kept thinking he was going to say “Stop! You’ve dug your needle way to deep into the patient!”

He did not yell at me of course.  I just tend to think of the worst possible scenario as a natural reflex, its just the way I roll.  I do have to admit that the faculty is pretty awesome.  They are incredibly helpful and they really want to see us succeed.

I am having a really great experience and I know that sometimes I complain about the work, time and school, but its nursing school so its expected, plus I’m loving every minute of it!
